Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of the Crocus sativus plant, commonly known as the saffron crocus. It’s known for its vibrant red stigmas, which are dried and used as a seasoning and coloring agent in food. Saffron is also used in traditional medicine and cosmetics. It’s one of the most expensive spices due to the labor-intensive harvesting process, requiring 1,000 flowers to produce just one ounce of saffron

1. Measure: Use approximately 5 to 10 saffron threads (0.01g
to 0.02g) per dish serving four people. Saffron is potent; a small amount is sufficient.
2. Soak (Recommended): To extract full color and flavor, soak
the threads in 1 to 2 tablespoons of warm water, milk, or broth for 10 to 30 minutes
before use.
3. Add to Dish: Stir the saffron infusion into your dish during
the cooking process—preferably mid-way or towards the end—to preserve
its aroma and rich color.

"As someone who grew up with saffron being part of our family traditions, I was truly impressed by the quality of Saffa Saffron. The threads are vibrant, aromatic, and authentic—just like the ones my grandmother used to steep in warm milk during winter. I’ve used it in our biryanis, chai, and even my skincare routine, and the results are exceptional. It’s comforting to find a South African brand that delivers such purity and heritage in every strand."
